“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.”
—Ferris Bueller from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Sometimes the best way to get your mind off the things in your external environment that has been zapping your energy and attention is to focus on your personal growth and well-being.
Here are 3 proactive things you can do to focus on your health and wellness.
1. Focus On Strengthening Your Immunity
This week the meditation app Soulvana published a free 1-minute immunity quiz that calculates your overall immunity score.
The quiz is based on these 5 critical factors for immunity:
The key thing to keep in mind when it comes to your overall immunity, it’s only as strong as its weakest link.
In other words, you could regularly exercise, eat fairly healthy, have a daily meditation practice, and get great sleep, but if you drink lots of alcohol and sugary drinks, this can lead to a compromised immune system.
What do you think is the weakest link in your health and immunity?

2. Take A Daily D.O.S.E Of ‘Bliss Chemicals’
“D.O.S.E” stands for dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins which are natural chemicals produced by our brains that illicit states of happiness and connectedness.
In this video, Radha Agrawal talks about how we can actually train our brains to release our “natural dose” of these chemicals by creating certain experiences and engaging in certain activities.
This means we can hack our states of happiness by tapping into our brain’s own ability to produce these natural bliss chemicals.
Here’s a quick chart of activities you can do to boost these chemicals:
The idea here is to consciously choose to do simple things that instantly make you feel good.
3. Embrace JOMO: The Joy Of Missing Out
We all have experienced FOMO, the fear of missing out at some point or another in our lives.
Research has shown, factors like social media, anxiety, and loneliness all have a direct impact on experiencing FOMO.
In this current climate of instability, uncertainty, and anxiety, we more than ever want to always be in the know.
Constantly checking our phones for the latest news update and aimlessly scrolling through social media.
We all get swallowed up by the feeling of instant gratification our high-tech society provides us from things like the 24-hour news cycle, TV, the internet, social media, Netflix, etc.
Our minds are always looking for certainty…
Trying to decide what’s next to do…
Or what else we can find to distract ourselves with.
What would happen if you took away your choices and lived in restraint?
What if you disconnected digitally and spent more time going offline?
In essence, living with JOMO — the joy of missing out.
What would you do with your free time?
What would you create?
What project would you work on?
Who would you deeply connect with?
Here are some ways to Embrace JOMO:
Finding joy in missing out is really about using some of the time and energy that you’re devoting towards non-productive things (like worrying, feasting on the news, or binging on Netflix) and looking around at the abundance of resources and beauty that is available to you.
Using your time to connect with yourself.
Connect with others.
To be present.
To expand and grow yourself.

I think Ferris had it right.
Life indeed does move fast…
And if you don’t stop and look around once in a while to truly soak it in, you could miss it.
