New Audio Experience: Awaken Your Soul and Remember Who You Are
As you go about setting intentions to make improvements to your life in the upcoming year, here’s an insightful thought experiment to consider.
What if the way you are right now is as good as it gets?
Scary thought or freedom?
Think about it. Does that frighten or liberate you? Ask it again and see how your body reacts.
What if the way you are right now is as good as it gets?
And you can take it one step further:
What if you had nothing left to prove to anyone or yourself?
Pause.
Now, if you sincerely answered these questions, the only thing left to ask yourself is:
How would the way I spend my time change?
For some, this could indeed be a scary thought, revealing dissatisfaction with the present and a desire for more. For others, this could be the ultimate liberation. Pure freedom that ushers in complete self-acceptance.
If it scares you, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it could simply mean you have tons of untapped potential. It means you know you are capable of so much more. It means you want more out of life.
Trust me, I’ve known what that feels like.
Use that as a sign to take small sustainable steps this year toward creating the type of life you desire. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying: “Don’t die with your music still in you.” So dust off that trombone from middle school and get jammin’!
But if you’re really frightened, it could also mean that you’ve been tying your fulfillment and worth to extrinsic factors. Perhaps this is a sign to bring more balance to your life and to reflect on what exactly it is you’re chasing. See this as a call to connect with yourself and your intentions for your life more deeply.
If you fall in the latter category, and it frees you, it could be a sign to give yourself some grace and start living your life fully. It could mean you yearn to let your hair down and relish the simplicity of present-moment joys without making them a means to some greater purpose. Because once we accept ourselves, and our current situation fully, without any need for anything to be different, this becomes the moment when our true purpose is revealed.
Perhaps, this is when we can get out of our own way, stop caring what other people and society think, and just embrace our existence as it is. It’s in this space, we become lighter and life is easier.
In either case of how you answered (scary thought or freedom), allow it to guide how you spend your time in the upcoming year. Time is the one thing we will never get more of. Whether you seek to express some burning untapped potential or embrace and accept yourself more fully, the clock is ticking. Next year may never come.
